Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
Mooshie Moments helps parents and carers play with their children away from screens. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in plain English.
1. Who we are
Mooshie Moments is the data controller for the information described here.
You can reach us any time at contact@mooshiemoments.com.
2. The short version
- The app stores your child's first name and age on your device. We don't upload it.
- Photos you attach to a memory stay on your phone. We never see them.
- We use a small number of trusted services for crash reporting, subscriptions and advertising measurement.
- We don't sell your data. We never have and we won't.
- You can ask us to delete anything we hold, at any time.
3. Information in the app
Your child's profile — stays on your device. When you set up Mooshie you can enter your child's first name and age band. This is stored locally on your phone so the app can suggest age-appropriate activities and greet you by name. It is not uploaded to us and we cannot see it. Deleting the app removes it.
Your activity history — stays on your device. Activities you've done, favourites, and anything you write in the keepsake journal are stored locally on your phone for the same reason.
Photos — stay on your device. If you attach a photo to an activity memory, it is saved only within the app on your phone, or to your own photo library if you choose. Photos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
Subscriptions. If you subscribe to Mooshie Premium, the purchase is handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat assigns your device an anonymous identifier — it does not receive your name, your email or your child's details. We never see your card details; Apple handles payment.
App usage. We use Firebase (a Google service) to understand how the app is used and to spot crashes, so we can fix things. This tells us which screens are opened and where the app breaks. It does not tell us who you are.
Advertising measurement. We advertise Mooshie to reach more families. We use AppsFlyer to understand which adverts lead to app installs, so we don't waste money showing ads to people who already have it. On first launch, iOS will ask whether you allow tracking. If you say no, we do not use your device advertising identifier, and everything in the app works exactly the same. We also use Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports ad performance to us in aggregate without identifying anyone.
4. Information on our website
Our newsletter and download list. If you give us your name and email, we use them to tell you when features launch, to send the "Junk Drawer Genius" guide, and to send occasional activity ideas. You can unsubscribe from any email and we'll stop immediately.
Nurseries and early years settings. If your setting requests a partnership pack, we collect the setting's name, your name, your email, the setting postcode, and optionally a phone number and the name of whoever is leading on it. We use this to send your pack and to keep in touch about the partnership. We never pass your details, or your families' details, to anyone else.
Creators and affiliates. If you apply to our creator programme, we collect your name, email, social handle, platform and rough audience size, so we can assess and manage the partnership.
Download links and QR codes. When you scan one of our QR codes or follow a download link, our server records the campaign it came from, your device type, your IP address and the time. We use this to understand which posters, adverts and partners actually reach families.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and how people find us.
5. Why we're allowed to use your information
Under UK data protection law we need a lawful basis for each use:
| What | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Sending you marketing emails | Your consent — withdraw any time |
| Using your device advertising identifier | Your consent, via the iOS tracking prompt |
| Providing the app and your subscription | Performance of a contract with you |
| Crash reporting and product analytics | Our legitimate interest in a working product |
| Contacting nurseries and settings about a partnership | Our legitimate interest in reaching families through trusted settings |
| Keeping records and preventing abuse | Our legitimate interest, and legal obligations |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've considered whether it's fair to you, and you can object at any time using the contact address above.
6. Children's privacy
Mooshie is designed for adults to use with their children. The app is not intended for children to use on their own, and there is nothing in it for a child to watch or tap.
We take the UK Age Appropriate Design Code seriously. In practice this means:
- Your child's name, age and activity history stay on your device
- We don't build a profile of your child, and we don't use their information for advertising
- We don't ask for any more information about your child than the app needs
- Removing everything is as simple as deleting the app
If you believe we hold information about a child and shouldn't, email us and we'll delete it.
7. Who we share information with
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Mooshie:
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Apple | App distribution, payments, subscriptions |
| Google (Firebase, Analytics) | Crash reporting, app and website analytics |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscription status |
| AppsFlyer | Measuring which adverts work |
| Our email provider | Sending newsletters and replies |
| Our web host | Running this website |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
8. How long we keep things
- On your device: until you delete the app
- Newsletter and download list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you
- Nursery and creator enquiries: for as long as the partnership is active, and up to two years afterwards
- Website and QR scan logs: up to 14 months
- Subscription records: as long as required for tax and accounting
9. Your rights
You have the right to ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you
- Correct anything wrong
- Delete it
- Stop using it for a particular purpose
- Send it to you in a portable format
- Withdraw consent you've previously given
Email contact@mooshiemoments.com and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
10. Security
We use reputable, industry-standard services and keep access to personal information limited to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously — and the most sensitive information in Mooshie, your child's details and your photos, never leaves your device in the first place.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and we'll tell you directly if the change is significant.
